UPDATE!!!! VEGANISM AND FIGURE COMPETITION!

I AM BACK AND AMPED FOR LIFE

So I am so extremely excited to give my update of my life the last couple of months. The end of last year 2011 I decided to take my health back into my own hands and use healthy foods to heal my body from the years of unhealthy food abuse. I was so sick of feeling sluggish, tired and angry. A little bit about why I was so amped to get my health back.....

 Years of eating White Castle, Burger King, Mcdonalds, Pizza hut finally caught up with me. I tipped the scale at 202lbs!!! YIKES! In 2007 my senior year of college while in Canada for a student exchange program, I started my journey to lose weight. Every day I worked out twice a day, got plenty of rest and ate healthy. I lost 22lbs in 5 months which put me at 180. I was stuck at 180 for 4 years. I got down to 160 by becoming a raw vegan but gained all the weight back and then some. I was so tired of yo-yo dieting, binge eating and being strict with my diet. So at the end of 2011 I started on another journey of being healthy. I used the master cleanse to help cleanse my toxins out and then started eating tons of fruits and veggies. But I fell back into the cycle of binge eating, and then being strict with my diet. I realized that if I continued down this road I could really harm my body. But flashing back a bit at the age of 26 I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I was put on medication and everytime I would go back to the doctor, he would up my dosage or add another blood pressure pill. He made a statement that would change my life forever. He saide " YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ON MEDICATION, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO, ITS ESSENTIAL HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, ITS YOUR HEREDITY". He did not want to work with my diet to help get my blood pressure down, he just threw medication at the symptoms. Flashback to 2011, I stopped taking my medication, though I do not recommend doing this. But I told myself I would not be on medication to help with something that could be changed with diet.

My journey was not only to get my vibrant health back but to prove to all the doctors in the world, that it is not ok to give up on a patient and push pills!!! Nature should be the go to for healing a person’s body not synthetic medication. Now today, I have never felt better. I eat about 80% raw fruits and veggies and eat some cooked greens or black bean burgers. My body has never felt or looked this AWESOME!!!

 This will be my first figure competition!!! I see a figure competition as the icing on my weightloss cake! Regardless of what place I come in, walking out on the state in a barely there bikini will be so worth it. It take a mentally strong person to compete, and I have never been stronger!!! I am currently 158 with about 28lbs to go which will put me at 130lbs for competition.

MASTER CLEANSE BEGINS JOURNEY BACK TO RAW VEGANISM!!!

Hello World,

Today I started the Master cleanse. For those of you who are not familiar with the cleanse. This is the cleanse Beyonce did to lose weight for her role in Dreamgirls. This cleanse consist of lemons, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Google Master cleanse or lemonade diet and a bunch of sites will pop up. I have done alot of research on if it is healthy, what to expect and what results will occur.

This morning I started off the cleanse with a sea salt water flush. I put two teaspoons of pure California crystal sea salt into 1 liter of distilled water. Once I drunk it, my stomach was quick to release any toxins in my system. Once toxins passed I made my master cleanse concoction.

64 ounces of distilled water
5 lemons juiced
8 tablespoons of Maple Syrup Grade B, recipes say 12 tablespoons but if you want to lose weight do less
about half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper which actually made it really spicy so I will do less tomorrow.


So far I feel good, very excited for this journey. This is more than weight loss for me. Completing the full 40 days of the cleanse will help me see that if I can do the full challenge then I can overcome my issues I have with eating. This journey is truly mental therapy. Not focusing on food so much everyday will help my soul rest and repair itself. I will be blogging about my experience everyday. I will also be meditating everyday to help me with my journey. After I complete the 40 days  I will be continuing my journey to get my health back by becoming a raw vegan.I will not be 100% I will be eating at least one cooked vegan meal but it will be at least 90% raw vegan.

Meditation and veganism



I am extremely excited about learning about meditation. I checked out four books and two meditation cds. I haven't finished reading the books yet but I can tell this will be an eye opening experience. Wish me luck !!! So I have also being seeing a connection between veganism and meditation. When you start taking care of your body through exercise/meditation, you take care of your diet as well. I feel lighter being a vegan and I'm sure it will help me levitate :-)

Today is the day !




I am starting the eat to live lifestyle. Yesterday I did a sea salt flush which is 1 liter of room temperature distilled or spring water with two teaspoons of unrefined, non- addictive sea salt. This will cleanse your digestive tract. I liked how I felt afterwards that I am doing another sea salt cleanse as I type. I got up this morning very i to change my life of unhealthy habits. I am currently fixing a big pot of mixed greens ( collard, mustard, turnip ) and a big pot of black beans with cilantro. I am going to start reading the complete book of eat to live today. As of yesterday I had only read the six week meal plan. Wish me luck. Hopefully if you are reading this you may see benefit in eating to live as well.

Jamaican food weakness



So in a few minutes I will be eating my last Jamaican dish of curry goat, plantains, rice and peas. I love Jamaican food but its best I let it go. I am excited about changing my lifestyle. It's finally time I hold myself accountable for my own health. I realized any major life threatening condition, at least the major ones like heart disease, diabetes and high blood can be connected to poor eating habits. I already have one of those conditions and that is one too many. I am too young to have a major health condition.

Eat To Live



I bought the book Eat To Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman today. I am really excited to start reading the book. I always do research on new ways of eating for health and I came across his book. I have read many reviews and it seems to be a no gimmicks type book which is a breath of fresh non polluted air. The book is based on a 6 week meal plan that promises a 20lb or more Weightloss. The meal plan is based on unlimited amounts of beans, legumes, raw vegetables,greens, veggies, fresh fruits, a few nuts, 1 oz of ground flaxseed, limited amount of starchy vegetables and grains, no dairy, animal products,fruit juice, between meal snacks and oils. I am going to read the book starting today and will start eating to live Sunday 1/30/12.
